Signatory Vintage – Independent Scotch Whisky Bottler

Signatory Vintage is one of Scotland’s most respected independent single malt whisky bottlers. Founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington, Signatory has gained international recognition for their uncompromising approach to quality and transparency.

Philosophy and Style

Unlike distilleries that produce their own brands, Signatory sources casks directly from distilleries across Scotland. Each bottling is typically a single cask or small batch, often bottled without chill filtration and without added colour, to preserve the whisky’s natural character.

All bottles are labelled with the distillation date, bottling date, cask number and bottle strength, making them popular with enthusiasts and collectors.

Tormore Distillery – A Modern Classic in Speyside

Established in 1958, Tormore Distillery is one of the first new whisky distilleries to be built in Scotland after the Second World War. Designed by renowned British architect Sir Albert Richardson, the architecture of the building makes it one of the most striking distilleries in Speyside. The whitewashed buildings and manicured gardens give the place an almost stately feel.

The distillery is located at the foot of the Cairngorms and is fed by the Achvochkie stream, which contributes to the clean and fresh character of the whisky. Tormore whisky is typical of the Speyside style and is characterised by floral notes, sweetness, fruitiness and a slight honeyed note – elegant and balanced.

The distillery has changed hands several times and is currently owned (as of 2025) by Elixir Distillers, who have ambitious plans to strengthen Tormore’s position as a producer of premium single malt whisky.

Tormore is not open to the public, but its distinctive building makes it a popular stop for whisky enthusiasts visiting Speyside.
