Signatory Vintage – Independent Scotch Whisky Bottler

Signatory Vintage is one of Scotland’s most respected independent single malt whisky bottlers. Founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington, Signatory has gained international recognition for their uncompromising approach to quality and transparency.

Philosophy and Style

Unlike distilleries that produce their own brands, Signatory sources casks directly from distilleries across Scotland. Each bottling is typically a single cask or small batch, often bottled without chill filtration and without added colour, to preserve the whisky’s natural character.

All bottles are labelled with the distillation date, bottling date, cask number and bottle strength, making them popular with enthusiasts and collectors.

Glen Ord Distillery – A Hidden Gem in the Scottish Highlands

Located in the town of Muir of Ord on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands, Glen Ord Distillery is one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland. Founded in 1838 by Thomas Mackenzie, it has been producing whiskies with deep roots in the Highland tradition ever since.

History and Ownership

Glen Ord has had a long and varied history, but is now owned by Diageo, one of the world’s largest spirits producers. The distillery is a key part of Diageo’s portfolio and a key component in several blended whiskies, including Johnnie Walker.

Production and Style

Glen Ord is known for its richness and malty character, often with notes of honey, grain, spice and dried fruit. The distillery uses its own floor malts – something quite unusual in today’s industry – and uses both ex-bourbon and sherry casks for ageing.

It is one of the few Scottish distilleries to have a large malting plant on site, which supplies malt to several other Diageo distilleries.
